Sitake has just completed consecutive 11-win seasons as BYU's head coach, with the team finishing the regular season ranked 11th nationally.
The 50-year-old Sitake has been leading the Cougars since his appointment in 2016. Over that period, he has climbed to third place on the program’s all-time wins list with an 83-44 record.
During his decade in charge, BYU has had only two losing seasons and has reached double-digit wins in four of the last six years. If he accepts the Penn State position, he will depart BYU boasting a 5-2 record in Bowl Games, including last year’s Alamo Bowl victory against Deion Sanders’ Colorado Buffaloes by a score of 36-14.
If they defeat the No. 5-ranked Texas Tech in the Big 12 Championship on Saturday, December 6th, they will secure a place in the 2025 College Football Playoffs.
Regarding Penn State, they remain in search of their first new head coach since hiring James Franklin in 2014. The team ended the season 6-6 (3-6 in conference), unranked after starting the year at No. 2 nationally.
This marks their worst season record since the 4-7 campaign in 2004.
