Gardner injured his calf just two plays into the game. MRI results confirmed a calf strain rather than the Achilles injury initially feared by the team.
The 25-year-old, two-time All-Pro cornerback remained on the sidelines wearing a boot, supporting his teammates, but he will regrettably miss some upcoming games as the Colts are fiercely competing for the AFC South division crown.
Gardner was obtained at the trade deadline in exchange for two first-round draft picks and wide receiver Adonai Mitchell to the New York Jets.
In three appearances with the Colts, Gardner has recorded 13 tackles, two pass breakups, and has allowed only 38 yards on five catches (10 targets). Quarterbacks targeting Gardner since his arrival have a passer rating of just 59.6 this season.
Indy holds an 8-4 record this season but lost the division lead last weekend to the Jacksonville Jaguars (8-4), who possess a superior conference record of 5-2, securing them the top position.
The Colts will face Jacksonville in a critical game this Sunday, December 7th. Their next four matchups are: @ Seattle Seahawks (December 14th), hosting the San Francisco 49ers (December 22nd), hosting the Jacksonville Jaguars (December 28th), and then visiting the Houston Texans (date to be determined).
