Nguyễn Thùy Linh holds a top seed position at the Korea Masters 2025 starting on November 4th.
Vietnam’s top badminton player, Nguyễn Thùy Linh, will compete in the Super 300 Korea Masters 2025 held in Iksan, South Korea from November 4th to 9th.
This tournament marks Thùy Linh’s return to the BWF World Tour events after being absent for one and a half months. Her last international ranking event was the China Masters on September 17th, where she had to withdraw from her first match against Yeo Jia Min due to injury.
Recently, Nguyễn Thùy Linh participated in an exhibition tournament in Indonesia, teaming up with Olympic champion Viktor Axelsen and doubles specialist Yuta Watanabe. Born in 1997, she has mainly stayed in Vietnam to recover physically and also defended her Master’s thesis at Bac Ninh University of Sports.
At the upcoming Korea Masters 2025, following Kim Ga-eun’s withdrawal, Nguyễn Thùy Linh is seeded second, avoiding strong opponents in the early rounds. Her first-round opponent will be a qualifier yet to be determined. The number one seed in this South Korean event is Chiu Pin-chian from Chinese Taipei.
The two most formidable opponents for Thùy Linh in this draw are former world No. 1 Nozomi Okuhara and the young Thai talent Pitchamon Opatniputh.
Notably, Nguyễn Thùy Linh is not the only Vietnamese player competing in this tournament. The country’s badminton golden girl will be accompanied by Nguyễn Hải Đăng and the doubles pair Nguyễn Đình Hoàng and Trần Đình Mạnh. Hải Đăng will face Kuo Kuan-lin (Chinese Taipei, world rank 70), while Đình Hoàng/Đình Mạnh will play against the hosts’ representatives Noh Jin-seong and Park Seung-min.
Matches involving Nguyễn Thùy Linh, Nguyễn Hải Đăng, and the pair Nguyễn Đình Hoàng - Trần Đình Mạnh at the Super 300 Korea Masters 2025 are scheduled to take place from November 5th.
