Korea Masters 2025 signifies Nguyễn Thùy Linh’s comeback to the Tour tournaments following a month and a half away.
The main draw matches for men’s and women’s singles at the Super 300 Korea Masters 2025, held in Iksan, South Korea, begin today, November 5, featuring two of Vietnam’s top badminton players - Nguyễn Thùy Linh and Nguyễn Hải Đăng.
For Thùy Linh, seeded second, she will avoid many strong opponents in the early rounds. However, according to the popular score update site Flashcore, the "Vietnamese badminton beauty" is unexpectedly matched against Chen Yufei - the Tokyo 2020 Olympic champion and former world number one.
However, this is just a display error on Flashcore, mistakenly showing Han Yu-chen’s picture as Chen Yufei. Han Yu-chen, Thùy Linh’s upcoming opponent, is not a well-known player; searching her name on Google leads to information about Chen Yufei or the match between "Feifei" and Han Yue.
Han Yu-chen, 23 years old and currently ranked 174th in the world, mainly competes in lower-tier tournaments with her best results this year being reaching the round of 16 at the Super 100 Indonesia Masters II and the Phuket International Series.
This season, Han also participated in two tournaments in Vietnam: Ciputra Hanoi - Yonex Sunrise Vietnam International Challenge and Vietnam Open, but failed to pass the qualifying rounds in both.
At this year’s Korea Masters, Han Yu-chen started from the qualifiers, defeating Ririna Hiramoto in two games to enter the main draw, where she will face Nguyễn Thùy Linh.
If she performs at her best, Thùy Linh can definitely achieve a good result against Han. However, after being off the Tour for a month and a half due to injury, the shuttle feel might be something the Phú Thọ native lacks in the upcoming encounter.
The match between Nguyễn Thùy Linh and Han Yu-chen is scheduled for 4:30 PM today, November 5, Vietnam time, on court number 3, match order 11 (following the match between Huang Yu-hsun and Tereza Svabikova).
