In a breathtaking comeback, Vietnam's top women's doubles pair advances to the quarterfinals of the Singapore International tournament.

This also stands as the last representative for Vietnamese badminton at the Singapore International Challenge 2026.

Vietnam's current number one women's doubles pair - Pham Thi Dieu Ly/Pham Thi Khanh (seed number 4, world rank 127) excellently passed the round of 16 in the badminton tournament Singapore International Challenge 2026 following a 2-1 victory (22-20; 12-21; 23-21) over Tsai Ruo-lin/Wang Yi-zhen (Chinese Taipei, world rank 250).

The first game witnessed an incredible comeback by Pham Thi Dieu Ly and Pham Thi Khanh. Tsai/Wang quickly took the lead and at one point built a double-digit advantage, nearly securing the win. However, the Vietnamese duo staged a powerful resurgence, scoring consecutively and brilliantly saving 4 game-points to level the score at 20-20.

Riding the momentum, Dieu Ly/Pham Khanh surged ahead to earn their first game-point opportunity, which they capitalized on fully to clinch a dramatic 22-20 victory.

In the second game, both sides traded points initially before the Chinese Taipei representative accelerated, securing a decisive 21-12 win to even the match score.

In the deciding game, Dieu Ly/Pham Khanh performed better in the first half, leading 11-8, but were caught up and even fell behind. The two pairs battled point for point until the final stretch, where the Vietnamese pair showed superb nerve by brilliantly saving 2 match-points, then seized their sole opportunity to win 23-21, earning a quarterfinal berth.

In the round of the top eight women's pairs, Pham Thi Dieu Ly and Pham Thi Khanh will face Machi Nagasako/Yuzuki Nakashima (Japan).

This is also the last remaining representative for Vietnamese badminton at this year's Singapore International Challenge. Previously, the biggest hopes such as Nguyen Hai Dang, Le Duc Phat, the husband-wife duo Nguyen Tien Minh - Vu Thi Trang, and the men's doubles pair Nguyen Dinh Hoang, Tran Dinh Manh, among others, have all been eliminated.
