Vietnam's top badminton player, Nguyễn Thùy Linh, has received disappointing news just before participating in the prestigious Super 1000 All England Open 2026, held in Birmingham, United Kingdom from March 3rd to 8th.

Accordingly, on the world rankings published by the specialized site Statminton , which are expected to be officially updated by the BWF (Badminton World Federation) on March 3rd, Thùy Linh has dropped three places, falling to the 25th position with 45,980 points.

The gap between Thùy Linh and the top 20 player Mia Blichfeldt is nearly 5,000 points, while the "Vietnamese badminton beauty" currently maintains a lead of about 3,000 points over players ranked outside the top 30.

Thùy Linh's drop in the world badminton rankings is not entirely surprising, because the player born in 1997 withdrew from the Super 300 German Open last week, thereby being unable to defend the significant points she earned as the tournament's reigning runner-up.

The German Open has been one of Nguyễn Thùy Linh's most successful events on the BWF World Tour, with two runner-up finishes in 2024 and 2025. However, Vietnam's number one player decided to skip this event held in Mülheim, Germany, to focus her efforts on the 2026 All England Open.
