Her campaign at this year's All England Badminton Championships came to an end rather prematurely.
Vietnam's top badminton player, Nguyễn Thùy Linh, will continue her European tour after making an early exit at the Super 1000 All England Open 2026 taking place this week.
The All England Open is part of a series of three tournaments on Thùy Linh's European tour this season. Next week, the "Beauty of Vietnamese Badminton" will compete in the Super 300 Swiss Open 2026 held in Basel, Switzerland. She is scheduled to face a player from the qualifying round.
Last season, Thùy Linh was eliminated in the very first round of this tournament after a three-set defeat to Dai Wang (China).
Following the Swiss Open, the player from Phú Thọ will travel to France to participate in the Super 300 Orleans Masters 2026. The draw for this event has not yet been announced on the official BWF (Badminton World Federation) website.
Thùy Linh has never competed in this tournament during her career. Last year, she was on the entry list but withdrew. Typically, the 1997-born player selects three tournaments: the German Open, All England Open, and Swiss Open for her schedule. However, Thùy Linh made an adjustment by deciding not to compete at the German Open—an event where she had been runner-up for two consecutive years. This caused the 28-year-old player to lose ranking points and drop to world number 25.
Nguyễn Thùy Linh's travel journey to Europe has faced significant hurdles. The highly "volatile" situation in the Middle East has impacted flights worldwide, and Thùy Linh was no exception. Vietnam's number one player had to endure multiple flight segments to reach Birmingham, leaving little time for preparation and acclimatization to the competition conditions. Consequently, she suffered a relatively swift defeat to Line Christophersen in her opening match at the All England Open 2026.
