Roki Sasaki officially returns to the Major Leagues, with his specific bullpen role still uncertain.

The Los Angeles Dodgers' Japanese rookie pitcher Roki Sasaki is confirmed to return to the Major Leagues. Manager Dave Roberts said today that Sasaki, who had been sent down to the minors, will be officially reinstated on the MLB roster tomorrow. Roberts commented, "I intend to use him as a bullpen pitcher, but I’m uncertain about the specific role he will take on."

Since May, Sasaki has been on the injured list due to right shoulder impingement syndrome. After nearly two scoreless relief appearances, he regained the team's confidence and earned a chance to return to the Major Leagues. He will join the team on the road for the game against the Diamondbacks. Sasaki’s locker is next to Shohei Ohtani’s, and the two communicate in Japanese and warm up together with catch drills.

Following his recovery, Sasaki has pitched in Triple-A since August 14, appearing in five starts and two relief outings, accumulating a 1-1 record with a 6.10 ERA.

Since September began, Sasaki has thrown his fastest pitch in the U.S. at 161.9 km/h. After being officially added back to the roster, he is expected to start out in the bullpen.
