The CTBC Brothers secured the highest winning percentage for the entire season, earning the first ticket to the Taiwan Series in the 36th CPBL season.

In this 348th game of the 36th CPBL season on October 3 at the Intercontinental Baseball Stadium, the CTBC Brothers took on the Taiwan Steel Eagles. Aiming for the annual championship, the Brothers relied on a pitching relay including Brandon Leibrandt, Jiang Zhongcheng, Cai Qizhe, Wu Junwei, and Li Zhenchang, combined with an early scoring rally in the first inning. They ultimately won 2-0, securing first place for the season and becoming the first team to advance to the Taiwan Series, holding home-field advantage in games 1, 2, 5, 6, and 7. Meanwhile, the Rakuten Monkeys defeated the Uni-Lions 7-3 to maintain third place, confirming the three playoff teams as CTBC Brothers, Uni-Lions, and Rakuten Monkeys.

The "Yellow Army" launched an attack right in the first inning. After one out, Jiang Kunyu got on base, and Wang Weichen skillfully pushed the ball to the left side. The next batter, Xu Jihong, hit a grounder toward first base causing an error, loading the bases. The team then scored two runs thanks to a passed ball by the catcher and a ground ball by Song Shengrui.

In the second inning, CTBC faced a challenge. Starter Brandon Leibrandt struck out Steven Moya but then allowed a hit and a walk. Although he got the second out, a misplay by Song Shengrui on a return throw advanced the runners. Leibrandt then issued another walk, loading the bases again, but fortunately secured an out on a fly ball by Chen Zhijia, escaping the scoring threat.

After early struggles in the first inning, Zhang Cheng'en gradually regained his rhythm. In the second inning, though he walked Yue Zhenghua, he quickly picked off a runner and induced Huang Weisheng to hit a ground ball, completing a perfect inning. The third inning went even smoother, retiring all three batters consecutively.

In the sixth inning, CTBC brought in Jiang Zhongcheng to pitch. He started by walking Wu Nianting, then allowed a hit by Yan Yuxuan. Fortunately, after a timeout called by the coach, Jiang regained control and defused the situation.

In the bottom of the eighth, with one out, Yue Zhenghua hit the third and final hit for CTBC in the game, but the team failed to bring him home, leaving the opportunity unused. In the ninth inning, the Brothers sent Li Zhenchang to close. He first got Yan Yuxuan to fly out, then Song Shengrui made a spectacular catch against pinch hitter Du Jiaming. Next, pinch hitter Ye Baodi hit a deep double to right field, but Lin Jiahua’s final fly ball was caught by Yue Donghua, sealing the game. The Brothers won 2-0, and their magic number for the season’s top winning percentage dropped to zero.

The Brothers advanced to the Taiwan Series as the team with the best season winning percentage, while the Uni-Lions and Rakuten Monkeys will compete in the playoff series, with the winner becoming their opponent in the Taiwan Series.
