In the third game of the MLB National League Championship Series held today (17th) at the Dodgers' home field, starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow delivered a solid performance, pitching 5.2 innings, throwing 99 pitches, allowing 3 hits, issuing 3 walks, giving up only 1 run, and striking out 8. Thanks to Tommy Edman’s key go-ahead hit in the seventh inning and a Brewers’ throwing error, the Dodgers secured a 3-1 victory, establishing a 3-0 series lead and standing just one win away from advancing to the World Series.
After retiring two batters in a row, Glasnow was close to completing a perfect inning, but he walked William Contreras and then allowed Christian Yelich to hit an infield grounder near the mound for a hit, putting runners on first and second. Fortunately, Glasnow regained composure and induced a groundout from Andrew Vaughn, successfully escaping the scoring threat.
Dodgers’ leadoff hitter Shohei Ohtani faced the Brewers’ "fake starter" Aaron Ashby and immediately locked onto an outside slider, skillfully driving the ball down the right-field line and using his speed to reach third base. Next, Mookie Betts swung aggressively, hitting a double to right-center field, allowing Ohtani to score easily and put the Dodgers on the board first.
In the following inning, Caleb Durbin targeted Glasnow’s fastball and pulled it down the left-field line. Dodgers left fielder Enrique Hernández made a strong attempt to catch it but missed, letting the ball drop behind him for a triple. Jake Bauers then capitalized on the opportunity, hitting a line drive through the infield to bring home the runner and tie the game.
Afterward, both pitchers demonstrated strong control, limiting scoring chances and causing the game to stall. In the top of the sixth, after retiring Contreras and Yelich, Glasnow walked Andrew Vaughn. The Dodgers’ coaching staff promptly brought in left-hander Alex Vesia to face left-handed batter Sal Frelick, and Vesia delivered by striking Frelick out.
In the bottom of the sixth, the Dodgers launched another offensive push. With one out, Will Smith singled, followed by Freddie Freeman drawing a walk, putting runners on first and second. Edman swung decisively at Jacob Misiorowski’s first pitch, delivering a critical hit that gave the Dodgers the lead. The Brewers quickly brought in Abner Uribe, who struck out Teoscar Hernández but committed a throwing error on a pickoff attempt at first base against Max Muncy, allowing Freeman to score easily from third. After six innings, the Dodgers led 3-1.
In the top of the seventh, with one out and runners in scoring position, the Dodgers called on Blake Treinen to relieve. He efficiently retired Isaac Collins and Blake Perkins, preserving the lead without allowing any runs.
Anthony Banda retired the Brewers in order in the eighth inning, and in the ninth, the Dodgers entrusted the closer Rōki Sasaki. Sasaki performed excellently, delivering a perfect inning and securing the victory, giving the Dodgers a 3-1 edge in the series.
The fourth game will continue tomorrow (18th) at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, with Japanese two-way star Shohei Ohtani set to start for the Dodgers, while the Brewers have yet to announce their starting pitcher.
