After the game, former Yankees stars Derek Jeter and "A-Rod" Alex Rodriguez, both now commentators for FOX Sports, sharply criticized the Yankees' performance and suggested that General Manager Brian Cashman was actually to blame for the team’s loss. Cashman recently responded on a radio show, stating bluntly that neither of them are insiders and their opinions hold no real value.

After the Yankees were eliminated by the Blue Jays in the ALDS Game 4, A-Rod openly said he had never seen such a poorly constructed roster, while Jeter clearly stated that Cashman is the true decision-maker of the Yankees. Manager Aaron Boone is merely a powerless figurehead, with strategic decisions and player management during games controlled by Cashman. The public should not overly criticize Boone.

In response to Jeter and A-Rod’s remarks, Cashman angrily denied the claims as baseless: "Regardless of who the current Yankees manager is, I have never interfered with any in-game decisions. That is absolutely not true. Clearly, they have no understanding of the internal situation, and I don’t know why they would say such things. As the general manager, we never meddle with the starting lineup or decide who should bat or pitch. It’s really sad when people who don’t know the facts make casual comments."

Cashman also revealed that he personally called Jeter to ask why he made those comments. Jeter explained that as a commentator, he needed to express his opinions and genuinely felt Boone shouldn’t bear so much blame, and that the team’s poor performance this year wasn’t his sole responsibility. However, Cashman remained very displeased and responded, "Just 24 hours ago, the two of them predicted the Yankees would win the World Series, but as soon as we were eliminated, they immediately changed their stance."
