The Dodgers' World Series roster excludes lefties Alex Vesia and Tanner Scott, and righty Ben Casparius, who are replaced by right-handers Edgardo Henriquez and Will Klein.
The Dodgers carried the same 12 pitchers as in the National League Championship Series, including veteran Clayton Kershaw, who retired after this final World Series, along with 14 position players.
The position player roster remains unchanged from the NLCS. Shohei Ohtani, as a two-way player, does not count against the pitching roster limit.
Vesia is not on the roster, but his participation in the World Series was uncertain anyway. The Dodgers announced yesterday that he and his wife Kayla are dealing with a very private family matter.
If the Dodgers place Vesia on the family medical emergency list, he must miss at least three days and up to seven. If so, he could return as early as Game 3, which will be in Los Angeles.
Scott had hoped to return after a minor surgery to treat a lower-body abscess, but was ultimately left off the roster. The Dodgers opted to recall Klein and Henriquez, adding two right-handers to counter the Blue Jays’ right-handed offense.
Klein was called up to the majors three times this season, pitching 15.1 innings with 21 strikeouts, 10 walks, and a 2.35 ERA. Henriquez appeared in the Wild Card Series against the Reds, where he struggled in the first game, allowing one run without retiring a batter; he pitched in 22 regular-season games with a 2.37 ERA.
Casparius was included on the NLCS roster but did not pitch in any game.
