Roki Sasaki ran to the pitcher's mound after the game and made gestures; a former star said: he was checking the soil condition.

The Los Angeles Dodgers secured a win in Game 2 of the World Series today (26th), thanks to Japan's top pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who pitched a complete game allowing only one run. After the game, Roki Sasaki, who had started warming up but did not play, went to the mound and threw a couple of practice pitches. This action sparked curiosity among many fans and media.

While Yoshinobu Yamamoto was being interviewed on the sidelines after the game, cameras caught 23-year-old "Reiwa Demon God" Roki Sasaki making two simple pitching motions on the mound before leaving. According to former MLB Japanese player Tsuyoshi Taguchi, who was commentating at the scene, Sasaki’s gesture was likely to check the clay condition in advance. Taguchi said, "He probably wanted to see the state of the pitcher's mound soil because there will be more chances to pitch here."

Since the Dodgers lost the first World Series game to the Blue Jays 4-11, Sasaki didn’t get a chance to play then. With Yamamoto pitching a complete game today, the next three games (G3 to G5) will move to Los Angeles. If the Blue Jays manage an upset win on the road, Game 6 will return to Toronto’s Rogers Centre. Sasaki’s small gesture has earned praise from fans who see it as a sign of his professional attitude.
