Tyler Rogers, the slowest ball pitcher in the major leagues, was born, and interestingly, he named the child Nolan Ryan, which is the name of Nolan Ryan, the Hall of Fame strikeout king (Nolan Ryan), and his full name is Nolan Ryan Rogers. The slowest pitcher named his son the legendary fireball king of the major leagues, and while it is an inspirational story, it may actually be just a coincidence.
Rogers' wife was named Jennifer, and when she got married, she took her husband's last name, her maiden name Ryan as the child's middle name, and his first name Nolan became Nolan Ryan Rogers. Mr. and Mrs. Rogers also have another son named Jack Ryan Rogers.
Of the common fast balls (four-stitch, extended, chipped), Rogers' 82.3 mph (132.4 km/h) is the slowest and the fastest is Ben Joyce, the famous fireball man, with a staggering 102.1 miles (164.3 km) of four stitches.
Rodgers served as a relay pitcher for the Giants, shooting well year after year, with a 2.82 ERA last season, and he is a low-shoulder shooter, so the ball is not very fast. Ryan is the complete opposite of Rodgers' throwing style, Lane throws the ball so hard that he is even faster than the average pitcher.
