FOX Sports, the broadcaster of the MLB World Series, released the viewership numbers for this year's series. After an intense 11-inning battle, the Dodgers secured their title in Game 7, drawing 25.9 million viewers including those on streaming platforms.
FOX Sports' PR team said on social media platform X: "This was a Hollywood-like ending and also a historic record in viewership."
This year’s World Series recorded the highest viewership since the 2017 Astros vs. Dodgers series, with average audience numbers matching the 2017 levels as well.
The entire postseason also set the highest records since 2017. The 2017 World Series Game 7 attracted 29.06 million viewers. During this year’s Game 7, which went into extra innings, viewership peaked between 11:45 PM and midnight Eastern Time during pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto’s relentless appearance, drawing 33.06 million viewers at that moment.
Viewership data shows that this year’s World Series Game 7 clearly outperformed the NBA Finals. The NBA Finals Game 7 between the Thunder and the Pacers averaged 16.4 million viewers. This marks the second consecutive year that the World Series has surpassed the NBA Finals in ratings, with last year’s Dodgers vs. Yankees World Series averaging 15.1 million viewers compared to the Celtics vs. Mavericks NBA Finals’ 11.2 million viewers.
