
Major League Baseball (MLB) has unveiled the 2026 spring training timetable, featuring notable warm-up series between MLB clubs and the national teams competing in the World Baseball Classic. The United States team will meet the San Francisco Giants and Colorado Rockies in these preparatory games.
The schedule indicates that spring training will officially start on February 20, 2026, local time. Several games are set for the opening day, including key matchups such as the Arizona Diamondbacks versus the Colorado Rockies, San Diego Padres against the Seattle Mariners, Kansas City Royals facing the Texas Rangers, and Chicago White Sox playing the Chicago Cubs. Simultaneously, the New York Yankees will take on the Baltimore Orioles, Boston Red Sox will face Northeastern University, and the Minnesota Twins will compete against the University of Minnesota.
On February 21, all 30 MLB teams will make their debut. The defending champions, Los Angeles Dodgers, will start their first warm-up game on the road against their city rivals, the Los Angeles Angels.
Notably, from March 3 to 4, special World Baseball Classic warm-up games will be held, where MLB teams will compete against various participating national teams in a total of 28 games, with 14 games played each day.
The USA national team will play two warm-up games in Arizona, scheduled for March 3 against the San Francisco Giants and March 4 against the Colorado Rockies. These games serve as final preparations for the 2026 World Baseball Classic, which begins on March 6. This year’s WBC North American events will take place in Miami, Houston, and San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Besides the Classic warm-ups, several interleague matchups will occur during spring training. The New York Yankees will face the Chicago Cubs on March 23-24, while the Detroit Tigers will play against the Colorado Rockies. The Oakland Athletics plan to travel to Las Vegas for two warm-up games against the Los Angeles Angels on March 7-8.
The 2026 MLB regular season opener is set for March 25 at the San Francisco Giants’ home field, where they will host the New York Yankees. The traditional opening day will follow on March 26, featuring 14 exciting games across the league.
