The Chicago Cubs and new fielder Kyle Tucker agreed to a $16.5 million contract for next season, avoiding a salary arbitration hearing.
Kyle Tucker, 27, is scheduled to attend the hearing with the team as his team applied for a salary of $17.5 million in 2025 and the team only offered $15 million, and the two sides have already met to determine the $16.5 million amount the day before the Chicago Fan Convention begins.
The Cubs traded 3-for-1 in mid-December to send third baseman Isaac Paredes, pitcher Hayden Wesneski, and rookie Cam Smith to the Astronauts in exchange for outfielder beating Kyle Tucker.
Kyle Tucker has played 633 games in the major leagues, hit 125 home runs, scored 417 RBIs, batting average of 74, OPS of 0.869, stolen bases 94, was selected to the All-Star Game 3 times, and each has 1 gold glove and silver bat award, helped the Astros win the World Series in 2022, and won the American League RB king the year before.
