Dodgers’ media suggests Kim Hoo-seong recruit Song Seong-mun; Korean media jokes: forming a “bench duo”?

Song Seong-mun, the 29-year-old infielder from KBO’s Kiwoom Heroes, is challenging MLB via the posting system this offseason and remains in anticipation of contract proposals. At the awards event today, he openly stated he hasn’t received any specific updates: "I’ve heard some teams are interested, but nothing definitive so far."

When asked about negotiation progress, Song laughed and said he’s seen many reports in the media that even he wasn’t aware of, which surprised him. He explained that due to the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday, talks have not advanced yet, and he expects "formal offers should come after the winter meetings."

Song revealed that some teams have indeed shown interest, but he is still waiting for official offers. He plans to stay in Korea for now while his agent handles the next steps, and will head to the U.S. once the contract is finalized.

The Los Angeles Dodgers, whose roster has become heavily “Asian-influenced” in recent years, are also considered a possible destination. Local media outlet Dodgers Way recently published an article suggesting Korean player Kim Hoo-seong help recruit Song as a backup for Max Muncy. This sparked sharp commentary from Korean media Sports Chosun: "Should we laugh? Rumors online suggest Kim Hoo-seong and Song Seong-mun might form the Dodgers’ ‘bench duo,’ while Japan’s Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto remain the team’s core strength."
