The Los Angeles Dodgers have signed bullpen left-hand shooter Tanner Scott, arguably the best bullpen pitcher in the free agent market, to a four-year, $72 million contract.
Tanner Scott's deal also includes a $20 million signing bonus and a $21 million delayed payment, a model that the Dodgers have used in several offseason trades.
The addition of Tanner Scott could cap off another busy offseason for the reigning World Series champions.
Before Tanner Scott, Dodgers signed Blake Snell, one of the best starting pitchers on the market, signed back Teoscar Hernandez, signed Michael Conforto, cemented the outfield corner, signed South Korean second baseman Kim Hye Sung, traded away second baseman Gavin Lux, signed Tommy Edman to an early extension, and signed Reiwa Monster Roxy Sasaki.
Now, 30-year-old Tanner Scott will join Michael Kopech, Blake Treinen, Evan Phillips, Alex Vesia, Ryan Brasier and others to carry the Dodge's cowshed.
Originally a 6th round rookie in 2014, Tanner Scott has established himself dominance over the past two years, with a 2.04 ERA and 188 strikeouts in 150 innings in 146 games between 2023 and 2024 for the Miami Marlins and San Diego Padres.
With the addition of Tanner Scott, Dodger's luxury tax salary is estimated at about $375 million, about $70 million more than the No. 2 Philadelphian.
