Torino 2025 Winter Universiade: South Korea's short track speed skating team achieves a medal feast

South Korea's Kim Juri and Kim Tae-sung both won gold medals in the 1500m short track speed skating final at the 2025 Winter Universiade in Turin. In particular, the Korean men's and women's teams won gold, silver and bronze medals in the 1500m finals, showing their strongest fighting power.

South Korea's first sister in short track speed skating, Kumquat-ri

On the 22nd, Beijing time, in the women's 1500-meter final of the short track speed skating of the 2025 World University Winter Games held at the Parabella Ice Rink in Turin, Italy, South Korea's first sister Kumquat Li crossed the finish line first with a time of 2:37.614 and tasted the joy of winning the championship. So far, Kumquat has presented the first gold medal to the Korean delegation participating in the World University Winter Games in Turin. Seo Hye-min, who entered the final together, won the silver medal in this event with a time of 2:37.985, and Kim Kun-hee won the bronze medal in this event with a time of 2:38.302, and all three Korean female athletes finished on the podium. It is worth mentioning that Kumquat is confirmed to participate in the 2025 Harbin Asian Winter Games next month, when she will become the main obstacle to the Chinese short track speed skating team's home victory.

In the men's 1500m final that followed, the South Koreans also achieved a medal feast. With three Koreans in the final, Kim Tae-sung crossed the finish line first in 2:27.775 to win the gold medal, while Lee Dong-hyun (2:27.948) and Bae Seo-chan (2:28.087) won the silver and bronze medals in the event, respectively.
