Kai-Wei Teng's debut with the Houston Astros was outstanding! He openly shared his feelings about facing top Major League hitters on social media.

Following his trade to the Houston Astros, Kai-Wei Teng debuted today in the spring training game away against the New York Mets. He delivered a remarkable performance, successfully facing major league stars Marcus Semien, Juan Soto, and Bo Bichette in succession. After the game, he shared his thoughts on Facebook about facing such elite hitters.

On Facebook, Teng stated that he took over pitching in the top of the third inning, throwing two scoreless innings without allowing a hit and striking out two batters, successfully completing his pitching duties for the day. When pitching in the bottom of the third, he quickly found his rhythm, throwing all 10 pitches for strikes, including two impressive strikeouts.

The next half-inning’s batters posed the biggest challenge. Teng said that despite facing key major league hitters like Semien, Soto, and Bichette, he remained calm and aggressive within the strike zone, efficiently recording outs with ground balls and fly balls. His overall control was excellent today, with 15 of 17 pitches being strikes, and his breaking balls were all executed at the expected level.

Teng grew more composed as he pitched; he used 10 pitches for two strikeouts in the third inning and only 7 pitches in the fourth. Among these, a sinker retired the high-profile Soto, and a new slider induced a groundout from newly acquired Bichette.
