Snow blankets Coors Field as Dodgers players spontaneously build a snowman

If you've heard this before, please interrupt us: Coors Field is covered in snow.

The Colorado Rockies and Los Angeles Dodgers were scheduled to begin a four-game series in Denver today, but Mother Nature didn't cooperate.

Early this morning Beijing time, snow blanketed the entire stadium, creating a winter wonderland scene, starkly contrasting with Los Angeles's sunny weather. Some Dodgers players embraced this winter-like spectacle. Pitcher Emmet Sheehan, wearing shorts, joined the snow-clearing effort and used handfuls of snow to build a snowman.

The good news is: weather forecasts indicate the snow will stop long before the game starts. The Rockies organization is using snowplows to clear the snow from the outfield grass. Groundskeepers wisely covered the infield with tarps, so the snow actually didn't reach the dirt areas.

Perhaps both teams could also lend a hand, as this has happened before: In 2014, then-Mets general manager Sandy Alderson, Rockies owner Dick Monfort, and others picked up shovels to help clear 10 inches of snow from the field.
