Dodgers catcher Dalton Rushing faces backlash from Giants fans after allegedly cursing following a collision with Jung Hoo Lee.

Los Angeles Dodgers power hitter Dalton Rushing, who recently faced fan backlash for accusing the Rockies of cheating, was once again besieged by fans after appearing to swear after colliding with Giants' Korean player Jung Hoo Lee during a home plate confrontation on April 22. Rushing explained in an interview on April 23 that his remark was not aimed at Lee.

American baseball influencer Joshua Shiffman, with over a million followers, shared a video on April 22 showing Rushing not checking on Lee's condition after the collision but instead saying a curse word. After the video circulated, Rushing faced intense criticism from numerous Giants fans.

Lee initially left the field to rest but was fortunately unharmed and was still included in the starting lineup on April 23. Rushing stated in an interview: "I hope he doesn’t interpret this incident as rumors suggest. I will speak with him face-to-face tomorrow to ensure he’s fine. That comment wasn’t directed at him; he’s a great person."

Regarding the lip-reading analyses online, Rushing explained: "I did say a word, but it wasn’t what people think it was. I’ll leave it at that."

Rushing remarked: "That’s social media; it’s fine. As long as he’s okay and doesn’t feel I targeted him, that’s what matters most to me. I don’t care how outsiders interpret it; I just want to play well and give my best." Rushing also mentioned he had checked on Lee’s condition through Hyeseong Kim.

This season, Rushing has 12 hits in 29 at-bats with 7 home runs and 13 RBIs, a batting average of .414, and an OPS of 1.659. He was not in the starting lineup on April 23. Dodgers starting pitcher Shohei Ohtani pitched 6 scoreless innings that day, but the Dodgers were shut out 3-0 by the Giants.
