Sasaki held the Orioles to one hit and one walk in the first five innings before surrendering back-to-back homers in the sixth, leaving without a win or loss. The Dodgers rallied in the ninth, first tying the score on Dalton Rushing's base hit, then securing a 6-5 walk-off victory after an Orioles miscue.
In the top of the first, Orioles leadoff hitter Taylor Ward singled off Sasaki, but was thrown out trying to reach second on a relay from Andy Pages, giving the Orioles a virtual 1-2-3 inning. In the bottom half, Mookie Betts doubled with two outs to put the Dodgers on the board, and Max Muncy followed with another hit, making it 2-0.
Sasaki struck out two batters in a perfect second inning. In the bottom of the second, Pages singled with two outs and a runner on first, and Alex Freeland, who was on first, rounded third and headed for home. The Orioles' throw beat him to the plate, but Freeland's headfirst slide eluded the catcher's tag, giving the Dodgers a 3-0 lead.
Sasaki recorded his third perfect inning in the top of the third. The Dodgers opened the bottom half with consecutive hits, a walk, and another hit to load the bases with no outs, but failed to score. In the fourth, Sasaki notched his fourth 1-2-3 inning. In the fifth, the Orioles drew a two-out walk, ending their hitless streak since the first, but left the runner stranded.
In the top of the sixth, Sasaki gave up the Orioles' second hit of the game to leadoff man Jackson Holliday. With two outs, Gunnar Henderson launched an inside splitter that wasn't a mistake over the fence, cutting the lead to 2-3. Before Sasaki could recover, Pete Alonso followed with a solo shot. The Orioles' three-hit inning included back-to-back homers, tying the game.
Alonso's game-tying homer also ended Sasaki's outing. He pitched 5.2 innings, throwing 90 pitches (63 strikes), with six strikeouts, one walk, and four hits allowed—including two homers—all three earned runs.
The Dodgers' bullpen allowed four straight Orioles batters to reach base with one out in the seventh, giving up two more runs and putting Baltimore ahead 5-3. In the bottom of the ninth, the Dodgers mounted a comeback. Betts led off with a solo homer to make it 4-5. With two outs and runners on first and second, Rushing singled to right, scoring the tying run from second, and the winning run from first crossed home plate on an Orioles throwing error, giving the Dodgers a 6-5 comeback victory.
