Axelsen has played in the German Open six times in his career (2012, 2013, 2014, 2016, 2022 and 2024), and finally won the men's singles. It was also his second title of the year after the India Open in January. The last Danish men's singles champion in Germany was Ogensen 10 years ago (2015).
World No. 15 Loh Kean Yew reached the final for the first time in a year after winning the Spanish Super 300 tournament in late March last year, but unfortunately missed out on becoming the first Singaporean men's singles player to win the German Open in history.
