Today (26th) in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Daxi High School's two-way phenom Lin Chun-Hsi finalized his contract with the Pittsburgh Pirates of MLB, making him the third player from his high school to go abroad and the second this year to pursue a career in the US.
During his high school years, Lin Chun-Hsi demonstrated remarkable potential both on the mound and at the plate. Last year, he was selected for the Chinese Taipei national team at the 32nd U-18 Baseball World Cup, helping the squad secure a bronze medal. Now that his high school career is over, he has successfully stepped onto the international stage. Commenting on his signing with the Pirates, Lin said: "Playing overseas has always been my dream and goal since I was a child. I'm truly honored and delighted to have this opportunity to develop in the United States. I will continue working hard to reach the Major Leagues."
Pittsburgh Pirates Asia-Pacific Director Jiang Ruiyan has been closely monitoring Lin's development over the long term. He noted that Lin possesses excellent pitching potential: "He has a strong shoulder, a clean arm action, outstanding fastball quality, and spin rates above the Major League average. His command of off-speed pitches is also very consistent."
Max Kwan, Pirates Vice President and International Scouting Director, also expressed optimism about Lin's future: "Chun-Hsi is a highly promising young pitcher. We have been tracking his progress closely over the past few years. His smooth delivery and exceptional ball rotation align well with our pitcher development philosophy."
Max Kwan further stated that he believes Lin still has plenty of untapped potential, and the organization looks forward to helping him elevate his talents to the next level. He also emphasized that the Pirates' Pacific Rim scouting team has been working diligently in various regions and has demonstrated results in recent years. Signing Lin Chun-Hsi once again underscores the club's commitment to the Pacific Rim market and its long-term investment in the region.
