Jacob Misiorowski needed only three pitches today to leave another historic mark.
The Brewers' right-handed pitcher, during the first game of the series against the Chicago Cubs at American Family Field in Milwaukee, faced leadoff batter Pete Crow-Armstrong and delivered a fastball measured at 105.5 miles per hour (approximately 169.8 km/h). Crow-Armstrong barely fouled it off, but that moment instantly placed Misiorowski's name in the record books.
That pitch tied for the third-fastest recorded in the Statcast era (since 2008), matching the 105.5 mph fastball thrown by Ben Joyce on September 3, 2024. Only Aroldis Chapman has thrown faster, with a 105.8 mph pitch in 2010 and a 105.7 mph pitch in 2016.
Misiorowski's previous personal best was 104.5 mph. This record-breaking fastball came as the 24-year-old pitcher was in the midst of a strong start that the Brewers hoped for. The team is about to face a grueling stretch of 18 games in 17 days before the All-Star break. In today's game, he delivered another impressive performance: 6 innings, 8 strikeouts, allowing just 1 run on a solo homer by Cubs' Japanese slugger Seiya Suzuki, raising his ERA slightly to 1.45.
