After a year of waiting, the dream finally came true! Zheng Zongzhe recounts the full story of being urgently called to rush to Fenway Park.

Before the Boston Red Sox faced the New York Yankees on June 27, the team announced that they would call up infielder Zheng Zongzhe from Triple-A to the major leagues. In that game, Zheng not only recorded one extra-base hit in three at-bats but also earned his first career hit, first RBI, and first walk. After the game, he gave an interview entirely in English, personally describing the process of being informed of his promotion to the big leagues, and revealed that he would give his first-hit ball to his parents.

Reflecting on finally securing his first career hit, Zheng Zongzhe grinned and said it had been a year in the making, "I waited a whole year for this hit, and it finally arrived. However, I reminded myself that each at-bat is its own moment—don't think too much, just watch the ball and swing."

Being able to start in a "Yankees vs. Red Sox" showdown and achieve his first career hit left Zheng Zongzhe in disbelief. "When I found out I had a chance to be here today, I knew the opponent was the Yankees, and I knew Fenway Park would be extremely loud and lively. I really can't describe how I feel," he said.

When asked about the process of being told he was being promoted to the majors, Zheng Zongzhe explained, "They notified me at 2 PM in Worcester, so I went back to the hotel to get ready. Around... I kind of forgot, it was about 4:35 PM when they told me the Red Sox had officially registered me on the roster and told me to get to the ballpark quickly."

Zheng Zongzhe said that the news caught him off guard as well. "I was indeed a bit surprised, but I've always been prepared. While I was in Triple-A, I kept getting ready for a call-up to the majors at any time, but it still felt somewhat unexpected."

Finally, Zheng Zongzhe also revealed that the commemorative first-hit ball had returned to his hands. When asked who he would give it to, he straightforwardly said, "I think I'll give it to my parents."
