According to the ruling of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), Valieva lost the gold medal in women's single skating at the 2022 European Figure Skating Championships, the gold medal in women's single skating at the Russian Figure Skating Championships (2022), and the silver medal in women's single skating at the Russian Grand Prix Finals (2023) for violating anti-doping rules.
"Whether the non-return of medals/bonuses will lead to any consequences is a matter for the decision of these bodies, in accordance with the rules of the governing bodies concerned," WADA said in a statement. Among them, Valieva's medals at the European Championships were awarded by the International Skating Union (ISU), and domestic competitions were awarded by the Russian Figure Skating Association.
Valieva has been banned for four years for violating anti-doping rules. The suspension period will end in December 2025. Valieva will resume training after being disqualified for doping and then decide whether to continue her career. She can resume official training two months before the disqualification period. In November 2024, 18-year-old Valieva said at the time that she would continue to pursue a career in sports.
