Korean rhythmic gymnastics goddess Son Yeon-jae was elected as a director of the association, "looking forward to giving motivation to the athletes"

The 30-year-old Korean rhythmic gymnastics legend Son Yeon-jae was elected as a director of the Korean Gymnastics Association to contribute to the promotion of rhythmic gymnastics and the growth of future athletes. On the 6th local time, according to the Korean Gymnastics Association, Sun Yanjae, a representative of Liv Studio, was registered as the new director of the executive department of the newly formed association.

On October 31, 2019, Sun Yeon waved to fans after finishing a performance at the "2019 Leap Challenge Cup" held at the Namdong Gymnasium in Namdong-gu, Incheon.

At the board of directors meeting on the 26th of last month, the Korea Gymnastics Association elected a new senior management team including Chief Vice President Nam Seung-koo, Vice President Kim Ji-young, and Executive Directors Lu Hong-chul and Son Yeon-jae, and then obtained the approval of the former president of the association. The most striking thing is that Sun Yanzai has entered the management of the association.

Sun Yeon's new director is a living legend of Korean rhythmic gymnastics. She is the only athlete to have reached the final stage of the Olympic Games since rhythmic gymnastics was introduced to South Korea in 1976. She finished fifth in the individual all-around final of rhythmic gymnastics at London 2012 and fourth in Asian history at Rio de Janeiro 2016. In addition, Sun Yanzai also won the bronze medal in the individual all-around at the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou, the gold medal in the individual all-around at the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon, the four-time champion of the 2015 World University Games in Guangzhou, and the overall champion of the Asian Championships in Tashkent in 2016.

Sun Yeon, who retired in 2017, has set up a rhythmic gymnastics education studio in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, and is working to consolidate the basic training of rhythmic gymnastics in Korea. Sun Yeon will wear the title of "director" to watch the performance of the junior athletes at the 9th Korea Elementary School Rhythmic Gymnastics Competition and the Rhythmic Gymnastics National and International Gymnastics Dispatch Representative Competition, which will be held in Yanggue, Gangwon-do next April.

Kyung Hee University professor Lu Hong-chul will be the director of the Korean Gymnastics Association from 2023, and he expects Son Yeon-jae to promote gymnastics as a director of the association and provide great help to the growth of future athletes. Lv Hongzhe told the media: "I personally recommended Sun Yanzai on the board of directors. People like Sun Yeon-jae should lead rhythmic gymnastics. Having Sun Yan on the board of directors in the competition or on the field will also motivate the players to play. ”
