South Korea sent 20 people, including Park Hye-jung and Kim so-hyun, to participate in the 2025 Asian Weightlifting Championships, and North Korea also came

Paris 2024 silver medallist Park Hye-jung of South Korea from Goyang Hall will challenge for two consecutive Asian Championships titles at the 2025 Asian Weightlifting Championships, while Kim so-hyun, another South Korean athlete affiliated with the Busan City Sports Association, will challenge for a third consecutive Asian Weightlifting Championships.

In the women's 81kg weightlifting competition at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, Park Hye-jung roared after successfully challenging 168kg in the second round of the clean and jerk.

The 2025 Asian Weightlifting Championships, one of the highest levels of weightlifting in Asia, will be held in Jiangshan, Quzhou, from May 6 to 16. There will be 10 weight classes for men and 10 women, and 3 gold medals will be awarded in the snatch, clean and jerk and total for a total of 60 gold medals.

The Korean weightlifting team plans to send 10 men and 10 women to participate in the competition, with a total of 20 participants. Four people, including Park Hye-jung in the women's 87kg class, Yoon Ha-jee in the 87kg class, Kim so-hyun in the 76kg class, and Won Jong-bum in the men's 96kg class who won the overall gold medal at the Asian Weightlifting Championships held in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, last year, will participate in this year's Jiangshan competition.

Kim so-hyun, who also won the Asian Weightlifting Championships in Jinju in South Korea in 2023, will challenge for the gold medal for the third time in a row. North Korea, a weightlifting powerhouse that won 11 of the 20 gold medals at last year's Asian Championships, will also send a large delegation to the Asian Championships.
