Ronald Acuña Jr. A return to the Warriors lineup is still expected later this month.
The 2023 National League MVP will kick off his rehab schedule Tuesday night at CoolToday Park with the Warriors Florida League (FCL) against the Orioles FCL. He will continue to practice and play at the Spring Training Base in Northport until he is confirmed to join other minor league teams with the Warriors.
The Warriors didn't say how many rehab games Acuña would have to play before activation, but coach Brian Snitker stressed that the superstar has been out for nearly a full year since his last official game. According to the regulations, the field rehabilitation period must not exceed 20 days, and if there are no accidents, Acuña will be activated by June 1 at the latest, but there is a possibility of an earlier return.
Acuña suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee when he ran to third base in Pittsburgh on May 26 last year, and his rehabilitation is more conservative than the surgery he performed on his right knee on July 10, 2021. At that time, he returned on April 28, 2022, less than 10 months after surgery.
Acuña has continued to practice percussions and regular training since spring training began, but was only allowed to run and cut into the field after visiting Dr. Neal El Attrache last month.
