Curry's brother-in-law bids farewell to the NBA! Former player for the Hawks, Warriors, and Suns set to play in Israel next season

On August 24th Beijing time, free agent Damien Lee confirmed his signing with Nes Ziona in the Israeli Basketball League. Lee is known as the brother-in-law of Warriors star Stephen Curry.

Damien Lee started his career in 2016, going undrafted in the NBA Draft. He then joined the Heat for Summer League and later signed with the Celtics as a G League player. In 2017, he was traded to the Warriors’ G League affiliate, where he stayed until March 2018, after which he signed a 10-day contract with the Hawks, marking his NBA debut.

After his second 10-day contract expired, the Hawks signed him for the remainder of the season. That summer, Lee rejoined the Warriors on a two-way contract, impressing enough to earn his first multi-year NBA deal.

Following the Warriors’ 2022 NBA Championship win, Lee signed with the Suns as a free agent. He appeared in 74 games for Phoenix, averaging 20.4 minutes per game and becoming a key three-point shooter in their rotation.

After one season with the Suns, Lee suffered a meniscus tear before the 2023-24 season, sidelining him for the entire year. In the 2024-25 season, he played only 25 games for Phoenix.

Lee holds a career NBA three-point shooting percentage of 37.4%, averaging 7.8 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game. He will turn 33 in October.

Nes Ziona competes in the Israeli Basketball Premier League and won the FIBA Europe Cup in 2021.
