On September 13th Beijing time, Lakers star Doncic finally found time to settle into his new home. According to Southern California news reports, Doncic completed a significant personal move by acquiring a property in Manhattan Beach, previously owned by tennis star Maria Sharapova.
At the end of August 2025, Doncic purchased the Manhattan Beach residence of retired five-time Grand Slam singles champion Sharapova for $25 million, setting the highest sale price ever recorded for a home in Manhattan Beach. This modern three-story mansion covers about 800 square meters, featuring five bedrooms, a double bowling alley, and a spacious living room that opens directly onto the poolside.
The 38-year-old Sharapova bought the property in August 2012 for $4.1 million. After demolishing the original house, she collaborated with Los Angeles architecture firm KAADesign to custom-build this new residence. In a June 2019 magazine interview, she said, “I was completely obsessed with the process of building this house. Often, right after a match, I would fly in and head straight to the construction site, architect’s office, or cabinet maker. This was entirely my project; I wouldn’t let anyone else handle any part of it.”
It is reported that Sharapova sold the property to spend more time with her family in Europe. Additionally, she owns a residence in Florida.
According to public records from real estate websites and verification by Southern California news, 26-year-old Doncic completed the purchase through his agent Sig. Earlier in August, Doncic had just signed a three-year, $165 million contract extension with the Lakers.
One major perk of playing for the Lakers is easy access to beachfront cities like Manhattan Beach — a favored neighborhood for many celebrities and athletes. When he was traded to Los Angeles, Doncic mentioned his love for living near the ocean, and his new home offers a sea view, perfectly fulfilling this passion.
Clearly, Doncic has fully moved past the split with the Mavericks. Last season, he temporarily stayed in hotels or rental homes after joining Los Angeles, but now he has finally chosen to establish roots here. For the Lakers, Doncic’s willingness to integrate into the local community is undoubtedly a positive sign; fans will eagerly watch him represent this storied franchise on the court for years to come.
