$25 million! Doncic completes a blockbuster deal! Looks set to spend his prime years with the Lakers

Following his three-year, $165 million max extension with the Lakers, Doncic decisively acquired the $25 million three-level luxury home in Manhattan Beach once owned by the retired tennis star Sharapova.

Manhattan Beach, located in Los Angeles County, California, is an affluent coastal city, signaling Doncic’s intention to settle in the City of Angels and commit long-term to the Lakers — a very positive indication of his future plans.

At the contract renewal press conference earlier this August, Doncic openly expressed his desire to remain with the Lakers for the long haul and hopes that his jersey will one day be retired by the Purple and Gold franchise.

In February this year, Doncic was traded from the Mavericks to the Lakers in a universe-level swap involving Anthony Davis. He has since played 28 regular season games for his new team, averaging 28.2 points, 8.1 rebounds, 7.5 assists, and 1.6 steals per game, with shooting splits of 43.8%, 37.9%, and 79.1%. In the playoffs, he averaged 30.2 points, 7 rebounds, 5.8 assists, and 1 steal, shooting 45.2%, 34.8%, and 89.1% from the field.

After last season, the Lakers’ management and coaching staff made it clear that Doncic would be the undisputed core of the team, even with LeBron James still on the roster, whose contract expires next summer.

This offseason, to meet the Lakers’ expectations, Doncic successfully slimmed down and participated in the European Championship, leading Slovenia to the quarterfinals,where he posted impressive averages of 34.7 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 7.1 assists per game, earning the scoring title and a spot on the All-Tournament Team.

The 2025 EuroBasket All-Tournament Team is as follows:

Doncic;

Schroder (Germany, averaging 20.3 points, 3.4 rebounds, 7.2 assists, MVP & champion);

Wagner Jr. (Germany, averaging 20.8 points, 5.9 rebounds, 3.4 assists, champion);

Sengun (Turkey, averaging 21.6 points, 10.1 rebounds, 6.6 assists, runner-up);

Antetokounmpo (Greece, averaging 27.3 points, 10.6 rebounds, 4.1 assists, bronze medalist).

Back to the main point: at just 26 years old, Doncic still has many prime years ahead. As long as the Lakers can build a strong supporting roster around him, championship glory is well within reach.
