In this summer league, Kawamura represented the Bulls, posting averages of 9.6 points, 2.4 rebounds, 6.6 assists, and 2.2 steals, which earned him a two-way contract; in this preseason, he played in the first two of five games, averaging 11 minutes, with 3 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 1.5 turnovers per game, shooting 16.7%, 25%, and 75% in three categories.
Notably, last season Kawamura also signed a two-way contract with the Grizzlies, appearing in 22 regular-season games with averages of 1.6 points, 0.5 rebounds, and 0.9 assists in 4.2 minutes per game; in the G League, he played 24 games, averaging 12.4 points, 2.7 rebounds, 7.8 assists, and 1 steal, with a three-point shooting percentage of 41%.
