Good intentions gone wrong! It has been revealed that LeBron James is unhappy with Jones for leaking information and once helped him secure privileges with the Lakers.

On October 27th Beijing time, sources revealed to Lakers Daily that Lakers superstar LeBron James is “unhappy” about his friend Damon Jones leaking private details of his participation status to gamblers.

The sources stated that James and Jones share a close friendship, but James had no prior knowledge that Jones had shared non-public information about him with gamblers during the 2022-23 season.

On February 9, 2023, before the Lakers officially announced James would be out, Jones had already informed gamblers that James would miss the game against the Milwaukee Bucks. Ultimately, without James, the Lakers lost at home 106-115 to the Bucks.

Although Jones was not an official member of the Lakers coaching staff during the 2022-23 season, he assisted James during pregame practices. Additionally, Jones had access to the Lakers’ locker room, team buses, and planes, giving him exposure to key team resources.

In the 2023 Western Conference Finals, the Lakers were swept 0-4 by the Denver Nuggets. The sources also added that Jones leaked private information about Anthony Davis’s playing status to gamblers at that time.

James and Jones were teammates for three seasons on the Cleveland Cavaliers. The sources said that in the 2022-23 season, Jones clearly expressed his desire to enter coaching, and James, wanting to help his friend, brought him to the Lakers.

As the NBA’s all-time leading scorer, James is currently sidelined due to a right sciatic nerve issue and is not required to do media interviews for now. According to ESPN reporter Shams, the 40-year-old James is expected to make his season debut in mid-November.

Once James is cleared to play and resumes media duties, reporters will likely ask him about the Jones-related incident.
