On January 13, Beijing time, according to Evan Sidery of The Athletic, the Lakers and Warriors are currently regarded as the strongest suitors of center Vucevic. Sidery said that both teams have the assets to match Vucevic's $20 million contract, and the Bulls may end up trading Vucevic for second-round picks.
So far this season, Vucevic has played in 38 games for the Bulls, averaging 20.2 points, 10.1 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game, shooting 55.7% from the field and 42.9% from three-point range, both of which are career highs.
Previously, reporter Brett Siege also reported that the prevailing belief in the league is that the Warriors will use their expiring contract and second-round pick to bring in a key frontcourt player. In addition to Vucevic, Valanciunas, Boucher Sharp, and Richards are the five most talked about centers on the trade market.
It's a similar story for the Lakers, who need a backup center, with Valanciunas and Vucevic being the most talked about targets in recent discussions. Sidery said a week ago that the Lakers have asked for Vucevic and are looking for center upgrades in the near future, with Lowe and Varan also targeted. After trading for Finney-Smith, the Lakers have already begun to work on the next step of reinforcements.
Which team will Vucevic end up with? Will he be James or Curry's new teammate? Let's wait and see.
