Speaking on behalf of myself? “Yang Hansen” responds to sluggish stats: I will give my all in the time I have.

On October 31st Beijing time, Sporting News released an article titled “Blazers’ Popular Rookie Yang Hansen Replies to Critics with a Cute Post.” However, the media mistakenly attributed the post to the real Yang Hansen, when in fact it came from an impersonation account.

This “Yang Hansen” posted on social media: “I will give my utmost effort in the time I have.” He was responding to a post listing his season-start statistics. So far this season, in 5 games, Hansen averages 1.8 points per game, with a shooting percentage of 22.2%, scoring 2, 2, 2, 1, and 2 points respectively in those games.

Many fans really believed this was the real Yang Hansen, offering encouragement or advising him to leave the NBA in the social media comments. But attentive fans noticed this was a fake account. Although the account carried a blue verification badge, these badges can now be purchased and do not guarantee authenticity. Moreover, the username contained an extra “n” beyond Yang Hansen’s correct pinyin spelling.

Whether this impersonation account is speaking on Yang Hansen’s behalf, we do not know, but Yang Hansen indeed joined the Portland Trail Blazers with significant attention.

Sporting News stated that to secure him with the 16th pick in the draft, the Blazers made specific trades on draft night. Some even compared Yang Hansen to Nikola Jokic. Such comparisons undoubtedly create immense pressure. His early struggles in the rookie season have left Blazers fans, who expected him to be an “instant contributor,” somewhat disappointed.

Sporting News also noted that from draft night interviews through summer league and the entire preseason, Yang Hansen’s interview presence was impressive, showing his distinct personality. Actually, it was unreasonable to expect immediate impact from him. The level of the CBA is quite different from the NBA. Even though Yang Hansen performed well in the CBA, adapting to the NBA’s top-tier pace and physicality is not an easy task for him.

This media outlet remains confident in Yang Hansen, believing he has the potential to grow into an excellent, even elite, player. For now, he is simply making the best use of his current circumstances and doing what he can at this moment.
