A silver lining in misfortune! Trae Young has a sprain in his right knee's medial collateral ligament and will be sidelined for at least four weeks with no major structural damage.

On November 2nd, Beijing time, as reported by prominent journalist Shams, sources informed ESPN that Atlanta Hawks star Trae Young suffered a sprain to the medial collateral ligament in his right knee and will have a follow-up check in four weeks. Young underwent an MRI scan yesterday, and multiple doctors confirmed that his knee has no major structural damage.

Trae Young injured his knee during the match against the Brooklyn Nets and exited the game prematurely.

The four-time All-Star was hurt in the first quarter when his teammate, Mohamed Bamba, fell and collided with his right leg. Young immediately grabbed his leg with both hands, and live footage showed him also communicating with head coach Quin Snyder.

Trae Young then managed to play for another 17 seconds before heading back to the locker room. The Hawks officially classified his injury as a “right knee sprain” and announced that he would miss the remainder of the game.

Expectations for the Hawks this season have risen externally, but Trae Young’s injury casts a shadow over the team. Fortunately, he avoided a severe injury. The 27-year-old was averaging 20.8 points and 9.5 assists per game before this match. So far this season, the Hawks have a 3-3 record.
