In the game against the Warriors, an injury occurred! Wembanyama has been diagnosed with a left calf strain and is expected to miss at least two weeks.

On November 18th Beijing time, the Spurs confirmed that Wembanyama had an MRI that showed a muscle strain in his left calf. This injury occurred during the Friday evening game against the Warriors. The team will release further updates as needed. Before the Spurs made this statement, journalist Shams had already reported that Wembanyama would miss multiple weeks because of the injury.

Previously, Wembanyama had already missed the Spurs’ win over the Kings due to this injury, with the team describing his absence as a precautionary measure. To clarify the extent of the injury, Wembanyama later underwent an MRI scan.

Spurs reporter Wright wrote on social media: “I saw Wembanyama in the locker room last night; he had a small brace on his injured calf. He didn’t seem to be in much discomfort and appeared to be in good spirits. But everyone knows the Spurs always take extra caution—especially with calf strains.”

“Sources within the league revealed that the Spurs will reassess Wembanyama’s condition in two to three weeks, and he will be out for at least two weeks. Given recent cases where calf injuries worsened over time, the Spurs are handling this very carefully. Additionally, it’s worth noting that Wembanyama himself reportedly feels that the injury is not severe.”

So far this season, Wembanyama has played in 12 games, averaging 34.7 minutes per game, contributing 26.2 points, 12.9 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 3.6 blocks. Last season, he had to end his season early after being diagnosed with deep vein thrombosis, playing only 46 games in total.

For the Spurs, who are currently on the rise, Wembanyama’s injury is a significant setback and may affect their short-term performance. The Spurs currently hold a 9-4 record, ranking 5th in the Western Conference. His impact is clear: in the 416 minutes he has played this season, the Spurs outscore opponents by 8.8 points per 100 possessions, whereas in the 213 minutes without him, they only outscore opponents by 1.5 points per 100 possessions.
