NBA announces Players of the Week: Alexander and Mitchell average 30+ points, Harden and Doncic among nominees

On November 25th Beijing time, the NBA officially announced the Week 5 Players of the Week. Thunder’s Alexander was selected as the Western Conference Player of the Week, and Mitchell of the Cavaliers received the Eastern Conference Player of the Week award. This is Alexander’s 8th career weekly honor and second this season. Mitchell earned his 9th career weekly award and first this season. Other nominees included Doncic, Harden, and Jokic.

Western Conference Player of the Week: Alexander (Thunder)

Over the past week, Alexander led his team to a perfect 4-0 record, averaging 31 points, 4.3 rebounds, 6.5 assists, and 2 steals per game, shooting 60% from the field and 64.3% from three-point range.

In the game against the Pelicans, Alexander scored 23 points with 2 rebounds, 8 assists, and 3 steals; versus the Kings, he posted 33 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals; against the Jazz, he contributed 31 points, 2 rebounds, 8 assists, 1 steal, and 1 block; and versus the Trail Blazers, he tallied 37 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists, and 2 steals.

So far this season, Alexander has appeared in 18 games for the Thunder, averaging 32.2 points, 4.9 rebounds, 6.6 assists, and 1.5 steals per game, with shooting percentages of 54.3% from the field, 41.2% from three, and 89.8% from the free-throw line. The Thunder currently hold a league-best 17-1 record.

Eastern Conference Player of the Week: Mitchell (Cavaliers)

During the past week, Mitchell helped lead his team to a 3-1 record, averaging 31.8 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 5 assists per game, shooting 56.6% from the field.

In the matchup against the Bucks, Mitchell scored 37 points with 5 rebounds, 7 assists, and 1 steal; against the Rockets, he put up 21 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals; versus the Pacers, he recorded 32 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists, and 1 steal; and against the Clippers, he posted 37 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists, and 1 steal.

This season, Mitchell has played 16 games for the Cavaliers, averaging 30.8 points, 5 rebounds, and 5.3 assists per game, shooting 51.5% from the field, 39.3% from three, and 82.9% from the free-throw line. The Cavaliers currently stand third in the East with a 12-6 record.
