According to NBA insider Shams Charania, both parties are anticipated to reach an agreement within the next week as the year ends.

The 30-year-old nine-time All-Star and nine-time All-NBA player is currently shooting a career-high 63.9% from the field this season, averaging 30.6 points, 10.7 rebounds, 6.4 assists, 1.0 steals, and 1.0 blocks per game. His 11.8 made field goals per game lead the league this season.

Even with his MVP-level performance this year, the Bucks hold an 11th place position in the Eastern Conference with a 9-13 record.

They were eliminated in the first round of last season’s playoffs by the eventual Eastern Conference champions, the Indiana Pacers and have not advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals since winning the NBA Championship in 2021.

In the last four seasons, Antetokounmpo has posted averages of at least 30 points, 11 rebounds, and 5 assists in three of those years (including 29.9 points per game in the 2021-2022 season).

From the 2018-2019 season onward, Antetokounmpo has ranked in the top three in MVP voting five times out of seven and is contending again this year alongside players like Nikola Jokic, Luka Doncic, and the current MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
