On December 4th Beijing time, Chris Paul shared on Instagram a screenshot of a video chat with Griffin and Jordan. This is Paul’s first social media update following his departure from the Clippers; his last post stated that he had been sent home by the team. Soon after this revelation, the Clippers confirmed they had parted ways with Paul and would assist him in finding his next career destination.

Seeing Paul alongside Griffin and Jordan easily brings to mind the era when the three built the “Lob City” legacy.
Among the three, Jordan was the first to join the Clippers. In 2008, he was selected in the second round, 35th overall, in the NBA draft by the Los Angeles Clippers, marking the start of his professional career. In 2009, Griffin was picked as the number one overall draft pick by the Clippers, officially joining the team. With his exceptional athleticism and explosive dunks, he became the team’s core player and a rising star in the league.

Paul joined the Clippers in 2011 via a trade from the New Orleans Hornets (now Pelicans), a move that officially launched the Clippers’ “Lob City” era.
The “Lob City” era ended in the 2017-18 season. In June 2017, Paul was traded from the Clippers to the Rockets. In January 2018, Griffin was traded mid-season to the Pistons, and in July 2018, Jordan signed with the Mavericks, also leaving the Clippers.
Now, Griffin has retired, Jordan plays for the Pelicans but has appeared in only two games this season, and Paul has just parted ways with the Clippers. Seeing the three reunited after so many changes evokes a strong sense of nostalgia.
