On December 8th Beijing time, reporter Fischer revealed that although Giannis recently expressed his desire to stay with the Bucks, other teams in the league have started preparing early, waiting for Milwaukee to signal openness to trade offers. Among the potential pursuers of Giannis, Fischer specifically highlighted the Knicks and the Heat as key teams to watch.

The Knicks might be Giannis’s preferred destination, but the Heat cannot be underestimated. Back when Luka Doncic was still with the Mavericks, Giannis’s agency researched the impact of playing in states like Florida and Texas, which have no state income tax, on his contract earnings.
This past summer, when the Heat refused to include Tyler Herro in the Kevin Durant trade talks and were unwilling to package Herro with Max Strus, Jovic, and the 2025 20th pick, many speculated that Miami’s strategy was to keep valuable assets ready to act quickly if a top-tier star became available.
Giannis recently turned 31 and is currently averaging 28.9 points, 10.1 rebounds, and 6.1 assists per game this season, with a career-high 43.5% three-point shooting. He will be eligible for an early extension on October 1, 2026, a critical date likely to influence the offers teams prepare to acquire him.

Besides being a potential destination for Giannis, Fischer disclosed that the Heat have also discussed Memphis guard Ja Morant internally, who has missed 11 of the last 12 games due to a calf injury. Fischer noted that Miami has indicated willingness to include Wiggins in a suitable trade package, and Herro’s ongoing contract negotiations might mean he is now considered tradeable.

Miami media has already shared a photoshopped image of Giannis and Morant in Heat uniforms. Does Riley really have the capability to bring these two stars in to continue the championship push? Or can he at least acquire one of them? Time will tell.
