On December 13th Beijing time, Mavericks insider Afseth reported that the front office is open to offers for Anthony Davis, Klay Thompson, Daniel Gafford, and D'Angelo Russell, though the team currently has no active plans to move any of these four experienced players.

Afseth further noted that other teams in the league generally believe the Mavericks are not only assessing their on-court performance this season but are also weighing their options in the trade market. He added that the Mavericks are viewed as a “team waiting for the right moment” rather than desperate sellers, and any moves they make will focus on enhancing the team’s long-term prospects.

Afseth mentioned that the Mavericks hope to see Kyrie Irving paired with Flagg in games and trust that the star guard can effectively support the rookie forward’s development. Notably, Irving’s name is not included among the four players potentially available for trade.
The report states that the Pistons, Hawks, and Raptors are all expected to compete for Davis, but Afseth’s sources express doubts about how well Davis fits with the Pistons and Hawks’ rosters.Among these three teams, the Raptors are considered the most suitable landing spot for Davis. However, as recently reported by renowned reporter Stein and confirmed by Afseth, a trade involving Davis is not yet set in stone.

“The Mavericks want to first evaluate how the lineup featuring Davis and Irving performs,” a source revealed. “There is no rush to move Davis. The team will only consider trading him if an offer meeting their expectations appears. Without a strong enough proposal on the table, the deal won’t happen. At that point, the team will continue to observe the trade market or wait until this summer to reassess the possibility of re-signing him.”
Although Klay Thompson’s performance with the Mavericks has been inconsistent, during the period of turmoil following Doncic’s trade, he maintained a positive and constructive presence within the team. Afseth added,if the Mavericks eventually enter serious discussions about trading Klay, the team will fully respect his desire to play for a championship contender.
