On December 16th Beijing time, the G League season opener continued as the Torn City Mix defeated the Stockton Kings 116-110. Chinese player Yang Hansen started and played 31 minutes and 26 seconds, contributing 18 points, 10 rebounds, and 4 assists, shooting 8-for-11 from the field, 1-for-1 from three-point range, and 1-for-1 from the free-throw line. A reporter caught a heartwarming scene on the sidelines where Klingen was advising Yang, offering him some tips.

Blazer reporter Highkin wrote: “During this morning’s Mix game, Donovan Klingen was seen coaching Yang Hansen during a timeout.” Blazer media outlet Blazer Lead shared the update with admiration: “Klingen is truly remarkable, showing up at 10 a.m. local time to watch the Mix’s game.” After the Blazers swept the Warriors yesterday, Klingen used his day off to support the Mix and Yang Hansen.
The moment of Klingen guiding Hansen also sparked lively discussions on social media, where fans shared their thoughts in the comments—

“Lately I really love how this team shows their spirit off the court.”
“Tumani (Kamara) was there today as well.”
“Yeah, that’s really cool.”
“Awesome to see these two working together the morning after the game.”
“Great to witness this. If we want to unlock Yang’s potential, this is definitely good news. Klingen needs to teach him how to dominate the boards more.”

Since Yang Hansen joined the Blazers, Klingen has often been one of his teammates providing support, something Yang has mentioned in several interviews. Previously, Klingen also shared in an interview that some of Yang’s current challenges remind him of his own rookie season struggles, urging patience and expressing confidence that Yang will develop.
Although Yang Hansen has yet to earn a rotation spot on the Blazers’ current roster, he has shown some progress through his performance in the development league. With his own hard work and the help of teammates, it’s believed that Hansen will continue to improve his game.
