On December 18th Beijing time, Lakers star Doncic was interviewed after practice regarding the electric bikes he gifted to the entire team for Christmas. Reports say each bike is priced at $3,350, and he handed out 103 in total. The full interview is as follows —

Reporter: What inspired you to take this action? And how frequently do you personally ride electric bikes?
Doncic: I think the longest ride was yesterday at the beach. Yeah, right on the sand, that was definitely my longest ride. I just wanted to give everyone a gift. You know, everyone on the team has put in a lot of effort, even those working behind the scenes quietly, so I wanted to do something for them too.

Reporter: Besides yourself, who impressed you the most when riding the electric bike? Or who learned to ride it the fastest?
Doncic: Well... I saw Jackson (Hayes) riding it, and it looked pretty scary. Honestly, I’m a bit worried about him; he really needs to wear a helmet. Of course, everyone should wear one. But since I didn’t see many people riding, the best rider is definitely me.

Reporter: When you were a child, did your parents or grandparents often give you gifts? Or did you only develop the habit of giving gifts to those around you after joining the NBA? Does this generous nature relate to your upbringing in Slovenia? How did this habit gradually form? I mean, did receiving gifts as a child make you feel warm, so when you grew up and had the means, you wanted to care for others in the same way?
Doncic: What you said makes a lot of sense. But the gifts I received as a child were nothing compared to these electric bikes. I only got my first electric scooter after entering the NBA. After all, it’s in the US that I have the financial ability, so being able to give gifts now makes me really happy.

Reporter: Luka, back to the topic of Christmas gifts. You’ve done a lot in community service and often contribute to the Dallas community. What special meaning does doing these charitable activities hold for you?
Doncic: My idea has always been simple — I want to give back to the community. After all, this place has given me so much. Obviously, I used to do this kind of work frequently in Dallas, and now that I’m in Los Angeles, I continue to do so. I just want to interact more with people and do my part to help those who are less fortunate.
