Breaking news! Hello, Garnett! The Timberwolves have waited a full nine years.

Insider Shams:Garnett is making a comeback to the Timberwolves, taking on a fresh role that includes business management, community activities, and content development, with his number 21 jersey retirement ceremony set to take place in Minnesota.

Born on May 19, 1976, Garnett was the 5th pick in the first round of the 1995 draft. He retired in 2016 after a 21-year NBA career, during which he averaged 17.8 points, 10 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 1.3 steals, and 1.4 blocks per regular season game, while in the playoffs he averaged 18.2 points, 10.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 1.2 steals, and 1.3 blocks per game.

Throughout his NBA career, Garnett earned numerous honors including 1 MVP award, 1 NBA championship, 1 Defensive Player of the Year award, 9 All-NBA selections, 12 All-Defensive team nods, 4 rebounding titles, 15 All-Star appearances, induction into the Hall of Fame in 2020, and helped Team USA secure an Olympic gold medal.

Garnett played for the Timberwolves, Celtics, and Nets, with Minnesota being both his original and final team, fulfilling a dream many players aspire to: starting and ending their careers with the same franchise. He wore the Timberwolves jersey for 14 seasons spanning from 1995 to 2007 and then from 2014 to 2016.

Although Garnett retired in 2016, his jersey retirement ceremony has only been planned now... This delay can’t be fully blamed on the Timberwolves; there were reasons behind it.

The legendary star had a serious conflict with former Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor, who refused to retire his jersey. The situation only began to improve after the Timberwolves were sold in 2021 for a $1.5 billion valuation.

The new Timberwolves owners, Mark Lohr and Alex Rodriguez, showed great sincerity by prioritizing repairing relationships with team legends since taking over. This earned Garnett’s goodwill, leading to reconciliation and naturally putting his number 21 jersey retirement ceremony on the agenda.

Congratulations to the Timberwolves King, finally able to come home again. The city of Minnesota has waited patiently for their hero for nine years, and now the wait is over. This heartfelt return after hardship is even more memorable.
