On December 19th Beijing time, Rockets star Shen Jing appeared on renowned reporter Zach Lowe’s podcast, addressing the rumors linking him to the Giannis trade talks.

Lowe remarked, “This year, rumors about Giannis have surfaced—whether he would request a trade or be traded, the Rockets have been frequently mentioned. After all, they hold numerous draft picks and have a group of highly promising young players like you. Have you ever felt even a little concerned about your name being dragged into these trade rumors? Did the team management or Stone reach out to you immediately to reassure you, saying ‘Don’t worry about this’? Or did you simply choose not to dwell on it at all?”
Shen Jing replied, “I want to say, I never worried at all. You know, trades might happen or might not. I’ve been playing smoothly this season and feel nothing can distract me right now. But I must mention, social media can really affect one’s mindset. Regardless, if any changes are going to happen, they will happen, and I have no power to change that, so there’s no point in stressing over it. I believe they (the Rockets) trust me, and every night on the court, I give my all.”

Lowe continued, “Honestly, I think this probably won’t happen. But on the other hand, the team hasn’t really given you any clear statements, right? I’m pretty surprised they haven’t come to you and said, ‘Brother, we definitely won’t trade you, that’s final.’”
Shen Jing said, “Yeah, I feel they clearly know I’m not worried about it at all, so they didn’t see the need to have a special talk with me. That’s just how I think about it.”
So far this season, Shen Jing has played 21 games for the Rockets, averaging 23.5 points, 9.4 rebounds, and 7.1 assists per game, shooting 50% from the field. The Rockets have a 16-7 record, currently 5th in the Western Conference. Giannis averages 28.9 points, 10.1 rebounds, and 6.1 assists with a 63.9% shooting rate. The Bucks stand at 11-16, 11th in the East. Multiple media outlets previously reported trade rumors involving the Rockets and Giannis, with Shen Jing considered a key asset in those talks.
